Our purpose is to:
Give every child a world-class education that unlocks their inherent potential to lead fulfilling lives and contribute to a better future.
Help teachers build the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to create vibrant learning communities and lead school change.
Serve the needs of communities through active partnerships with teachers and school leaders that build self-sustaining models of continuous improvement.
OUR VISION – In Three Propositions
ASPIRATION: A better world begins when children develop the collaborative, inquisitive posture necessary, in addition to knowledge, skills and competencies, for leading a life of meaning and satisfaction that contributes to our future.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
– Nelson Mandela
AGENCY: Experience and research have demonstrated that teachers are the most significant factor in predicting and realising the best student learning outcomes.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead
ACTION: Support teachers via embedded professional development resources in gaining the essential knowledge, skills, competencies and mindsets to position them as agents of instructional leadership and innovation.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them.”
– Einstein
A MODEL THAT LOOKS TO THE FUTURE BY LEARNING FROM THE PAST
THREE PRINCIPLES:
- We know that teachers, and all learners, require a sense of agency, competency, and meaningful engagement to experience transformative learning.
- We know that deep learning and the development of expertise take persistent effort and deliberate practice over time and that learning emerges from creative and critical dialogue in the community.
- We know that teachers can only create classroom learning cultures that make an impact by experiencing such cultures for themselves.
ONE PRACTICE:
By embedding TLI faculty in schools we provide the support that teachers need to shift their practices toward becoming self-directed learners engaged in continuous professional development. Three key elements define our practice:
- We build expertise by positioning teachers as leaders of their own learning, through reflective practice.
- We are present on site for the first year of co-learning, focussed on teacher growth through individualised and group coaching.
- We “walk the talk”, engaging teachers in the forms of learning that are models for their own classroom.
